All;
We had a very solid 5 member turnout for our May O.C. Game Day at The Realm in Brea.
Fen Yan and Bill Yuen paired up and played three scenarios over the course of the day:
Bill’s Russians defeated Fen’s Germans in “Marders not Martyrsâ€. They then broke out “The Puma Prowlsâ€, with Bill’s Germans defeated Fen’s Russians. For their third act, the flipped the scenario around, and Fen’s Germans defeated Bill’s Russians in the same scenario.
And while that was going on, I took on Drew Simon and Eric Visnowski in Deluxe scenario from Journal 8 “Charging Charmountâ€. In the end, my Germans were victorious over E.V. and Drew’s Americans. It was an interesting scenario that seemed to turn when my sniper Stun-Recalled the American Meat Chopper at the end of turn 2. There are not too many more fearsome weapons than that 24 FP with a rate of 3. Lucky for my Germans, the Americans failed to get any rate shots with it. It was a fun game, and like every other J-8 scenario I’ve played, I’d happily play this one again.
We took an early lunch next door at Millie’s. Weird change though, all of the college-age waitresses and the hostess had been replaced with middle-age guys in cheap straw cowboy hats. The service was still fine and the food was the same, but there was something creepy those waiters. They reminded me of a bunch of guys who had been assigned inappropriate jobs through witness protection.
And we had a cameo appearance from Scott Thompson, who was accompanied by a female student from his Military History Course. Evidently EV did a heck of a sell job; she was so intrigued by his explanation of the game she told Scott she’d like to learn how to play. Well done, EV.
Regards,
Jim
