I had four people show up here yesterday…not bad, but I was expecting a few more.

Candice and Casta played S21 Clash at Borisovka, with Candice's Germans defeating Casta'a Russians. I peeked in on their game at one point, and Candice had a Tiger all by itself, with a ring of destroyed vehicles around it! :D

Jim and Matt and I decided to play a three player scenario, and we selected SP46 Give Them Some Steel!, with Jim playing the Americans, and Matt an I each taking a group of defending Italians. Jim suffered some horrible luck and Matt and I accepted his surrender very early in the game…it was because of the good Italian beer that Matt and I were drinking. !lol

Candice and Casta played a second game, S10 Paper Army, with Candice playing the Greeks and Casta playing the Italians. Casta had to leave about 7:00, so Matt stepped in to finish the scenario, with Candice winning again. I think this is her 6th or 7th win in a row…she's on fire and tearing up the SoCal ASL scene!

Jim and I played DftB24 No Respite, with the dice giving Jim the attacking Italians and me playing the defending Britts. Jim took some horrible losses in the first couple of turns, but persisted with his attack and had captured two buildings, needing two more for victory, and assaulted both buildings on the last turn, but I was able to break or Pin all of the attacking units to hold on for the win.

Candice and Matt played S23 Monty's Gamble, with Matt playing thedefending Britts and Candice playing the attacking Germans. I did not get to look in on this gaem as Jim and I were neck deep in ours, but Matt held on forthe win, and ending Candice's winning streak. (It's OK Candice…you can hate Matt…the rest of us do! haha)

Our games wrapped up just after 11:00. There were a total of five people that attended, and five games got played…not a bad ASL day.

Matt did a great job at teaching me the difficulties of taking on AT guns with AFVs. I simply didn't know what I was doing, and fully deserved my loss. Matt was a great sport, telling me how his setup worked and explaining some game rules I was fuzzy on.

I wouldn't want to play Monty's Gamble again, as I do think it isn't that fun of a scenario. As a teaching tool, it was superb. It shows the power of HIP units, AT guns, urban terrain, and limited avenues of advance. The scenario only works because of SK rules, mainly due to no bypass. AFVs are forced into 3 routes of advance, all easily covered by Guns.

I had more fun with the two previous scenarios, but the wins might have something to do with it. :D

Casta was a really fun opponent, and our games were close. Clash at Borisovka was tons of fun. Tigers vs T-34s, armor-only, quantity vs. quality – What's not to like? I got pretty lucky with that one Tiger, as it killed I think 4 T-34s. The other only popped one before I broke that MA on turn 2 and Recalled. Thanks for the two great games, Casta!
