Always remember that the same line of trenches or foxholes you have set up to allow easy, covered retreat to your strongpoints…also allows your enemy easy, covered terrain to advance through on the attack. So rather than pave the way for the enemy to save some brokies, know when to get your live guys moving to the rear…or plan to sacrifice them in place as part of your devious defense.

I screwed up in my last game. I had a 546 squad as my sacrificial lamb. Micheal Ciccerione had 2 447's, a MMG, a HMG, and a 9-1. DM first turn. 2nd turn dead to failure to rout. The thing is, I'm not entirely sure it was a mistake. It did make the kill stack shoot at them and not move for 1 turn.

I didn't rout them out of a cluster of buildings when I could, preferring to let Michael surround and kill them. That was a mistake. Once they were going to be perpetually DM they needed to get out and possibly rally later.

Still learning the nuances of the game…
