We had five members in attendance yesterday at the October OC Game Day, plus a cameo appearance from Scott Thompson, who joined us for lunch.

Bill Yuen’s Americans defeated Stephan Tourville’s Germans in the SK 1 scenario “Welcome Back”.

Since we had an odd number of players, Hank W. took on Candice Juliano and I in a scenario from Schwerepunkt #14: SP159 “The Lisjanka Epitaph”. Our Russians defeated Hank W.’s well played Germans. Although Hank argued that he probably set up too far forward, Candice and I both felt this scenario seems somewhat hard on the Germans.

Stephan debuted is new blown-up SK boards; mounted on Masonite. Very nice. It’s good to have a pal in the printing industry, right Stephan?

The five of us, plus Scott adjourned for lunch at The Hat around 2:00 PM. All in all, it was a great day for ASL.

Stephan's board he showed us was very cool indeed. I can't wait to play a scenario on one of those.

SP159 was a good scenario, and poor Hank must have felt ganged-up on by Jim and I. Sorry, Hank!

At the time I told Jim I didn't like it so much, but that was probably because I didn't do much other than screw Hank over with some rules. Jim was almost insanely aggressive with Russians riding KV tanks. It worked out fine even though the 9-2 (the only leader Riding) broke when he was forced to bail out by a CA change.

Maybe we can eat someplace other than The Hat next time?

The Scenario was SK 4 Welcome Back.

Stephan made a great flank attack through the woods that almost succeded. If not for the power of the .50 Cal.

Good Game Stephan and the new Boards look great!!!

I agree with Candice that playing two-on-one is tough on the single player. It's simply the case that two heads are better than one. I was on the receiving end of that at the BBQ playing the single attacker for most of “Symphony of Violence” against Brandon and Sheldon.

Evidently Napoleon's maxim that he would rather fight an alliance than be part of one doesn't apply in ASL.

I was pretty aggressive with the KV/6-2-8 riders. I seem to always play more aggressively after returning from ASLOK. Besides, when you're the attacker in a Schwerepunkt scenario, you have to keep your foot on the gas peddle or you'll run out of time.

Candice, next time we play doubles, I promise you can have the fun side with all the toys. :)
