    Greetings sports fans…

Our Monthly Game Day in Brea was well attended on Saturday, with 7 members in attendance and three games played:

Scott Thompson and Casta played “Taking a Different Route” from the new Longest Road Scenario Pack. Scott’s Nationalists defeated Casta’s Reds in a game that at one point used all but one of Scott’s prisoner counters.

Bill Yuen and I took on Blair Bellamy in the Dispatches scenario “Jungle Rats”, with Blair’s Japanese falling to our Brits. Poor Blair soldiered on in a game that simply didn’t go his way from the start. His one AT Gun Malf’ed on the very first shot; and Blair finished it off with a “6” on his first repair attempt. His air support fared little better. Although he was able to pass a sighting TC against one of our Stuarts, the MG malf’ed on the first shot of the strafing run. A lesser player would have failed his personal morale check at that point, but Blair never showed discouragement and battled on with an admirable effort.

Larry Rohlfing and Eric Visnowski took on the Friendly Fire scenario “Elephants Unleashed”. Unfortunately, the scenario turned out to be larger than it looked, and the clerk running The Realm decided they needed to close an hour earlier, so EV and Larry declared the playing a draw. Too bad, it sure looked like a good scenario and was shaping up to be a great game. I’m definitely going to put that one on my play list.

For lunch we decided to forego our usual trip to The Hat in favor of a walk across the parking lot to Millie’s Restaurant. That turned out to be a pretty good choice; very much like Marie Calendar’s and about the same prices. The food was decent, the service was pretty good and because we didn’t have to drive, it took about the same amount of time as going to The Hat. We even got our own room in the back of restaurant.

All and all, it was another great Game Day at Brea.

    Regards,

    Jim
