We had 3 members in attendance for the October Game Day in Mira Mesa.

I kibitzed from the side-lines as Hank W.’s Russians were defeated by Dave Perham’s Germans in “Closing the Back Door”. This is kind of an odd scenario, lots of movement along the lines of some of the Friendly Fire scenarios. Personally, I think both sides are unwinnable.  I think there’s actually only one viable strategy to this for the attacker; they have to keep their T-34’s together and in motion, and just make a bee-line for the board edge, without risking a MA break by shooting. If they stop, the Germans have too many ways to kill them (and the Russians have to exit 4 of the 6 to win).

I then took on Hank in the Dispatches scenario “Avril Action”. Our first playing was over quickly when Hank’s Americans KIA’d 4 of my 6 German squads by the top of the second turn. So we re-booted, with Hank taking the Germans against my defending Americans. The second playing was much closer; with my Ami’s just barely squeaking out a victory. This is a fun and quick scenario, and I’d happily play it again. It also has the benefit of playing very quickly considering there are 8 AFV’s. Hank and I finished in under 3 hours.

    Regards,

    Jim
