We had a total of seven members at the March edition of our ASL Game Day at Emerald Knights:
Larry Reinking’s Americans fell to ‘Vegas’ Visnowski’s Japanese in “Taking Headsâ€.
‘Vegas’ then took on a late-arriving ‘Nick’ Nicholas in “A Stiff Fightâ€, where his Japanese were victorious over Nick’s Gurkas.
Dave Derezinski’s Germans and Chip Wertenberger’s Russians fought to a draw in “Clash at Ponyriâ€.
And because we had an odd number of players, I broke out Chris Olden’s 3-player playtest scenario “Whom the Gods Would Destroyâ€. Sal Palaez too the ELAS (Partisans), Mike Soffa took the EDES (Greek Nationalists) and I took the SS. It proved to be a very enjoyable game, though Sal’s partisans got caught in a crossfire between my SS and Mike’s Nationalists. On my last fire attack of the game I took a shot with my SPW251 SmG and broke the MA. That meant it couldn’t count toward final VC’s, and that was enough to give Mike’s Nationalists a win by the slimmest of margins. Damn, what great fun, and what a promising scenario.
We made our usual lunch trek to Larry’s for chili dogs, served by the ever lovely and talented Veronica. The survivors retired to Bob’s Big Boy for a (very) late dinner. Retired being the operative word: everyone at the table was 55 or over, and yes, that qualified us all for the senior discount,
