We had six members in attendance for the March edition of our ASL Game Day at the Guild House in Bellfower.
Stance Nixon and Dave Nicholas paired up for “Last Minute War” with Stance's Hungarians and Nick's Slovakians fighting to a draw.
Jim Svette's Russians fell to Scott Thompson's Germans in “Adolph's Amateurs.”
And Dan Plachta and I paired up for the AP scenario “Sat Sri Akal”, with Dan as the Japanese and I as the Brits. This was an interesting scenario where the Japanese have to capture two separate hills, and then have to fend off a counterattack from two platoons of Gurkas. I'd like to say my awesome ASL skills propelled my Brits to victory, but alas, as we later found out, this scenario is a real dog (18 to 8 pro-Brit on ROAR). A half way decent set-up and a few low rolls was all I needed. Dan played his usual outstanding game, but really, this is unwinnable for the Japanese, which became obvious about half way though, and we called it a Brit victory.
We had lunch at Sizzler, which once again proved to be a good choice. The survivors, accompanied by Stance's wife Cheryl, enjoyed a late dinner at Chris and Pit's BBQ. All in all, a fun day as usual for SoCalASL.
