I am pleased to announce that we are now set up to take on-line PayPal registrations for the 2nd Annual Burning Wreck Barbecue. Go to the Club website (www.SoCalASL.com) and look for the SoCalASL Club Store (left side of the home page). If you are a Club member with your 2009 dues paid, you’ll see an option under “Event Fees”. Click on that and you’re on your way. If you need to pay your dues for 2009 you’ll need to do that first, as this event is restricted to Club members whose 2009 dues are paid. If you paid your 2009 dues, but the option doesn’t appear, please email me directly.

If you want to register via snail mail you can do that also. Make your check payable to Matt Cicero, Treasurer, and send it to: 25300 Corte Sombrero, Murrieta, CA 92563. The event fee is $20. If you need to pay your 2009 dues, include an additional $15.

If you want to save a stamp and you’re going to be at the August Game Days at Brea or Mira Mesa, you can pay directly at one of those events.

The registration cut-off is August 28th.

If you’re planning to stay at the hotel overnight, you can book your room off of the link below. The link is also located at the bottom of the 2nd Annual Barbecue post in the “News” section on the home page of the Club website. Or you can call Crowne Plaza at 949-863-1999. The group name is “West Coast Melee”. In order to get the group rate you have to call the hotel, DO NOT call the national reservations number for Crowne Plaza (they won’t know what you’re talking about). The room reservation cut-off is also August 28th.

If you have any difficulty with event registration, or hotel reservations, or have any questions, be sure to contact me immediately at President@SoCalASL.com.

    Regards,

    Jim

SoCalASL 2nd Annual Burning Wreck Barbecue

Where: The Crowne Plaza Hotel, Irvine (home of West Coast Melee).

    When: 9:00 AM September 12th through 6:00 PM September 13th, 2009.

How Much: $20. The price includes dinner at the hotel on Saturday evening.

Format: The Burning Wreck Barbecue is not a tournament. The theme for this event is “playing the big ones”. Since we have the room from Saturday morning to Sunday evening, it’s the perfect opportunity to set up one of those big-ass scenarios you’ve always wanted to tackle. Hill 621, The Beast at Bay, The Last Bid, you name it, we’ll have the room for 33 straight hours. If you really want to maximize your fun, we recommend organizing a game with fellow Club member in advance (although there are always plenty of people who just show up to play). Team play is also a popular option.

Location: If you want to stay over, Crowne Plaza is offering the great deal we get for West Coast Melee; $99 per night (plus tax), which includes a complimentary breakfast for up to two per room. And yes, you read that right, the Club is treating each member to a free dinner in the hotel restaurant on Saturday. Also, the Club will be running our usual hospitality suite throughout Saturday afternoon and evening.

What you need to know: This event is restricted to SoCalASL members only. Only members whose dues are paid for 2009 will be able to register for this event. Because we need to give the hotel a head-count for dinner, we must require that everyone pre-register. We will have the on-line pre-registration option up and running soon. For now, just be sure to save the dates; you definitely don’t want to miss this very popular event. Last year we had 30 members in attendance, and we’re expecting more this year.

We hope to see you there!

    Paypal not working for me…

I just tried the process. Added it to my basket and checked out. It took me to Paypal where I logged in and had the Pay Now button active. Is there another computer or browser you could try this with? Perhaps there was just a paypal issue at that time.
