We had three members in attendance for the February edition of our OC Game Day. Larry Rohlfing took on Candice Juliano and I in the Friendly Fire scenario FrF26 “A Polish Requiemâ€. Larry took the attacking Germans, Candice and I set up the Poles. By the end of turn 3 Larry had taken quite a dicing (with good humor), and had to split for a family emergency. Although things looked pretty grim for the Germans, with a couple hours of game time remaining, Candice volunteered to take over for Larry, and we played on to see if a German win was possible. We played through turn 5 (of 6) before we ran out of time when the store closed. Although the Poles still had the upper hand at that point, there was still a fair chance the Germans could have won. All of us enjoyed the scenario and would happily try it again. Those Friendly Fire guys have put together a good product, and I recommend both this scenario and the entire pack.
We adjourned in the mid-afternoon to introduce Larry to Brea’s Best Burgers; good as always.
Personally, I wasn’t surprised by the lower than typical turn-out; WCM is only 4 days away, after all. And I knew in advance that several of our OC regulars weren’t going to be able to make it. I’m sure attendance will bounce back in March.
