Ok,
We’re going to try out a new Game Day location this coming weekend. It will be part of the “St. Crispin’s Irregulars Hobby Dayâ€. The ‘Irregulars’ is a group of gamers that meets on the 2nd Saturday of every month at St. Crispin/Knights of Columbus Hall, 1127 N. Anaheim Blvd, Anaheim, CA 92801. We have reserved some space for their January meeting next Saturday, January 9th. Chris Collett and several members have volunteered to join me and we’re going to see how it works out. If you’re available, please join us. The “Irregulars†play a wide variety of games, including Flames of War, Warhammer, and a variety of other board games.
We will be meeting at noon (our usual Game Day time.) The format will the same as a regular Game Day: show up close to the start time, and we'll pair up and play. This will not affect our regularly scheduled Game Day at The Realm on January 16th.
We’re very excited about this new possible Game Day venue. Please come and play so we can get some feedback about the location.
Regards,
Jim

January 19, 2010 at 6:23 am #5906Jim AikensKeymasterI thought I posted the Anaheim Game Day AAR to the forum, but evidently I only posted on the e-group list.
So here it is:
Greetings, ASL Fans;
I’m pleased to report we had an outstanding turnout for our Game Day in Anaheim, with 9 members playing a total of six games by the end of the day:
Chris Collett and I paired up in “Hammer to the Teethâ€, with my Germans victorious over Chris’ Americans.
And because we had the time, we did a rematch, playing “Priority Targetâ€, with Chris’ Germans falling to my Brit/Greek forces. Chris did well in both games, and he’s making excellent progress through the SK scenarios.
Scott Thompson’s Bulgarians defeated Stephan Tourville’s Germans in “Forest Devilsâ€
Scott and Stephan paired up for a second game, with Scott’s Swedes beating Stephan’s Russians in “Ten Ton Tankâ€.
Blair Bellamy’s Americans defeated Dan Plachta’s Germans in “Men Against Tanksâ€.
And Fen Yan took on both Rob Stai and Eric Visnowski in “Fighting at the End of the Worldâ€. Fen’s Germans nearly held off Rob’s Norwegians and Eric’s French troops in an impressive performance from a guy who hasn’t played in four years. Welcome back, Fen.
Everyone liked the location. The “St. Crispin Irregulars†serve lunch and dinner for $5 each, and we took advantage of that. There was quite a variety of gaming going on, including one group of guys doing ASL with miniatures; very impressive. Everyone was friendly, and we had plenty of room to play. They ran a raffle also, sponsored by Brookhurst Hobbies.
By general consensus, this location is a winner, and we will return again next month. Don’t forget, we will be playing at our usual O.C. Game Day location, The Realm, next Saturday.
I want to extend a special thanks to Chris Collett for turning us on to this new location. And thanks to all the members who came out to support the Game Day.
