We had a solid 6 in attendance for our inaugural meeting at At East Games in Poway:
Rob Feinstein’s Germans defeated Dave Perham’s Russians in the classic scenario “Kampgruppe at Krachevâ€.
Kevin Legge’s Germans fell to Fred Timm’s Americans in “Schloss Hemmingteinâ€.
And I took on Ish Molnar in the Starter Kit scenario “Contested Settlementâ€. Although my Slavs defeated Ish’s Poles, it wasn’t for a lack of skill on Ish’s part, he got robbed. I only managed to pull off a last turn win by rolling snakes in two consecutive Close Combats. It was a fun game and a fun scenario.
Ish is a new arrival to San Diego (originally from Green Bay.) He’s been playing SK I and II via VASL for about six months, and he’s a pretty advanced SK player. He’s anxious to get some more F-t-F experience and get into mainstream ASL. If you live near San Diego and are looking for a game (especially weekday evenings) fire him an email at Ish.Molnar@gmail.com.
We walked over to Denny’s for lunch (about two blocks away.) The lunch was… well, Denny’s . More importantly, the company was superb, as always, and Rob introduced us to his new Heroes card game. At Ease Games is a terrific venue for us. Ron Kent and his wife Carin are very gracious hosts. The store was busy all day with a huge Warhammer game and what looked like a pretty steady amount of foot traffic. We are already on the calendar for November 26th.
After we wrapped up our games, Rob, Fred, Ish and I tried a four-player game of Rob’s Heroes card game. It was a ton of fun, and we were able to give Rob a lot of feedback to help him dial in Heroes v2.0. Stay tuned.
