We had five players plus a cameo appearance at our O.C. Game Day in Brea:
Hank W.’s Russians defeated Blair Bellamy’s Germans in a nail-biter playing of “Where Iron Crosses Growâ€. Based on Blair and Hank’s game, this scenario has moved way up on my play list.
My Ukrainian-Germans defeated a large Russian force commanded by Eric Visnowski and Ray Wolozsyn in the combined-arms scenario “Vlasov’s Fist†out of the new Schwerepunkt. This was a goofy playing actually. My 5 Hetzers-from-hell could do no wrong; over the course of the game they rarely missed a shot, and almost never missed a kill. They combined for 4 critical hits in 6 turns. On the other hand, my infantry passed only two morale checks in the entire game, and more half the time failed ELR. They melted like butter. Lucky for me, the Russians really need their tanks to win, and by the end of the game all but one of the 9 Russian tanks were dead or recalled. And my 88LL AT Gun never took a shot.
Scott Thompson interrupted his studies to join us for lunch and pick up his ASLOK swag. We had a nice lunch over Millies, as usual.
