We had six members in attendance and a cameo appearance for our May meeting of The Red Barricades Project at St. Crispins in Anaheim.
Jim Cotugno and I started setting up the Russians at 10:30 (I had done the purchases and set-up the evening before.) I briefed Jim on my plan, and we made a few adjustments, then stepped away so Dan Plachta and Mike Cirrincione could set up the Germans. We had our usual St. Crispins lunch, at which time Blair Bellamy arrived. We put Blair in on the German team, and commenced the 10/20 CG date at about 1:30. In the mid-afternoon we had a cameo appearance from Scott Thompson, and a little later Eric Visnowski dropped in and remained with us for the rest of the day.
We played until 8:00 and completed 3 full turns. The Germans made a two-prong attack, with one force driving along the river, and a second pushing into the factories. Evidently it was a bad day to purchase OBA. Each side bought two 80mm modules. By the middle of turn 3 there was no OBA on the board. Both sides had lost a module to double red cards and the other to boxing a radio/phone. Each side got down one mission total.
While each team was setting up, the other team wandered out to the side yard, where the miniatures guys were doing the invasion of Tarawa. In their usual fashion, Frank and RJ (the two primarily modelers) encouraged walk-up's to throw some dice. I had the pleasure knocking out a Japanese boat gun position with air attack. It was one of coolest efforts we've seen to date by this group.
Because I have a trade show to attend that day, our June 11th meeting start time will be 1:00 PM. I hope you'll be able to join us.
