    Greeting ASL Fans;

    The Red Barricades Project resumed yesterday at St. Cripin’s Hall in Anaheim with four players; Stephan Tourville and Mike Cirrincione for the Germans against me and Henry DeVries as the Russians.

    We resumed the action on turn 4 of day 3 (October 19th) and completed that CG date (which went through turn 6.) With the conclusion of day 3 the German perimeter now runs from the GG11 river bank hex more or less straight across to the middle of the Main Mechanical Workshop (factory O14), through the middle of the Large Foundry Hall (factory L18), through all of the Large Warehouse (factory F19), then back to the board edge at A15. The Russians maintained a toe hold in the Main Mechanical Workshop and the Large Foundry Hall, but most of their forces on the western side had retreated across Arbatov Street behind wire and mines. The Germans achieved a breakthough early on the eastern flank that captured Ludikov’s Headquarters (CC10) and destroyed the dug-in KV next to it, but Henry did a fine job containing the damage by stitching together a defensive line based on some reserve infantry and various stragglers.

    Casualties were heavy (as they usually are in RB): the Russians lost 17.5 squads and one leader, the Germans lost 15 squads and two leaders. After 3 CG dates completed, a total of 50 Russian and 40 German squads have ended their days in the dirt cup.

    We started at 1:00 PM, a little later than usual, and played to about 8:00 PM or so. Harmon Ward (who run's the St. Cripin's Event) was kind enough to keep our usual primo corner location reserved for us despite our late start. As always, it was a nice relaxing day of ASL with a great bunch of dudes.

    Both sides will do their purchases, and the Russians will do their set-up, prior to the July 9th meeting. We will return to our regular 10:00 AM start time next month.

    Regards,

    Jim
