In order to avoid conflicts with the Charger's playoff games, I've moved the San Diego Game Day to January 25th. We can keep the noon start time.
I also want to address Dave's (and anyone else's) concerns about the day and location.
First, we can't do anything about playing on Sunday. I personally much prefer Saturday, but there simply are no locations with space available on Saturday in San Diego.
Second, just because we're playing at a game store, don't feel pressured to buy something, or feel guilty because we're freeloading. That's not how it works. The way the owners look at it, the store is open; if the store's playing area is not maxed out, it doesn't cost them anything to host groups like us. They know they'll still sell some stuff to some of us, even if it's just an occasional set of dice or bottle of water. It's all good to them. And having the playing area full looks good to their customers.
The Orange County and L.A. Game Days meet in very similar stores, and both owners have been very happy with us. And in both the O.C. and L.A. locations, we've been able to develop a cadre of “walk in” SK players who have become the backbone of Club's event attendance. We have the potential to do the same in San Diego, assuming this location continues to work out for us.
