    All,

I am pleased to report that we have secured a new location for the San Diego Monthly Game Days: Aritifex Comic Books and Games, 9839 Mira Mesa Blvd, San Diego, 92131. I want to thank Tom Grellner for his recommendation.

Artifex is just to the southeast of Interstate 15 and Mira Mesa Blvd. The set-up is almost identical to The Realm, where our O.C. members meet. The store sells a mixture of board games, collectable card games, and comic books. Card game tournaments are a large component of their business plan, and the have a good size room with tables (again, very similar to The Realm). I met with the owner yesterday, and he seems like a very reasonable guy who should be easy to work with.

The location is almost ideal. It’s very convenient to the freeway (the plaza backs to Highway 15 and you can see their sign from the freeway). There are several restaurants within walking distance and plenty of parking. And it is almost dead center in SD County.

The store is too busy to host us on Saturdays, so we will have to meet on Sundays. The Sunday store hours are 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. In my mind, that really isn’t a problem. Most of the SD members have indicated no particular preference for either weekend day. And though the O.C. and L.A. groups like to start at noon and play until 8 or 9 PM, historically the SD guys seem to prefer to start earlier and finish earlier.

I would like to resume the SD Game Day with the December meeting on Sunday, December 14th at 10:00 AM. If all goes well, we will continue to meet on the 2nd Sunday of each month thereafter.
