We had 5 members in attendance for our September 24th San Diego ASL Game Day at Steve Thorne’s house in Escondido.
Hank W. and Fred Timm paired up for the Journal 9 scenario “Light and Detached”, with Hank’s Germans defeating Fred’s Brits. This is a nice little scenario that I had previously playtested and knew they would enjoy. Both reported it was fun, and would make a good mini-tournament selection. Duly noted guys.
Kevin Legge and I paired up for the Dispatches scenario “Lack of Discernmentâ€. This is a fun Red Chinese vs. Nationalist Chinese scenario that I played with Bill Yuen about 6 weeks ago. This time I took the Nationalists against Kevin’s Reds. Later Steve Thorne joined us and assisted Kevin on the Red side. Not that Kevin needed any help kicking my ass all over Escondido. Not to take anything away from Kevin, he played a great game, but this playing for me was just one of those games where nothing went right. I threw in the towel fairly early when I lost 4 squads in one CC phase against no losses for the Reds. With several other squads KIA, all but one assault engineer squad ELR’d or KIA, and with one AC effectively dead and two leaders wounded, it was clear the Nationals didn’t have a chance.
We enjoyed a nice lunch at Acapulco’s, as usual. I was a great day with a solid turnout.
