We had a good turnout – total of ten people over the
day (Karl Johnson and Nick Rusch made cameo appearances). The next LA Game Day is November 1st.
Here's the rundown of the games played:
Rob Stai and Mike Soffa played TAC28, Whoa Mohammed,
with Rob's British defeating Mike's Germans.Geoff Coward and Jim Aikens played G6, Rocket's Red Glare,
with Jim's Germans defeating Geoff's Americans.Michael Cirrincione and Neil Estacio played S5, Clearing
Coleville, with Mike's Americans defating Neil's Germans.Candice Juliano and Dave Butterfield played RPT15,
Mercury Rising, with Candice's Germans defeating
Dave's mixed Allied force.Eric Visnowski and Candice Juliano played through a
few turns of RPT17, Hetzer Hunters, calling it a draw
as the store closed before they could finish. We had a group lunch at Marie Callendars a few doors
down. Also, Jim showed off his latest development in the One PP
ASL Kit, which uses custom-made counter trays. Worked
well during the scenario he and I played.Geoff

October 6, 2008 at 3:51 pm #5443Jim AikensKeymasterIt was great to see everyone who came to the LA Game Day. It was nice to meet our two newest members, Neil and Nick. I look forward to seeing them at our future events.
I also want to thank Geoff for a very enjoyable playing of “Rockets Red Glareâ€; one of my all-time favorite scenarios. It was a game of strange dice rolls, but we had a blast regardless. It was a perfect warm-up game for my trip to ASLOK this week.
As Geoff said, I also took the opportunity to debut my new “One Portage Point ASL Systemâ€. I’ve heard it said that ASL is really just an excuse for geeks to do arts and crafts, and maybe there’s something to that. !shy Sorry Stephan, no photos yet; we’re still learning what we can do with this new web site. But as soon as Paul gives me the green light, I’ve got a ton of photos to post.
Anyway, I now have all my ½†counters in a box identical to the one that contains my dime-bag vehicle storage system. The ½†counter box has 8 removable counter trays that I constructed out of balsa wood and foam board and contains enough counters to play pretty much any non-CG size scenario in the system. The big test will be my trip to Cleveland this week; I’ll let you know how it holds up.

I'm inspired to finish my coin envelope vehicle storage system. I just have to find a box the right size to start from and then craft the dividers. Thanks for the ideas you game me on Sat, Jim.
October 7, 2008 at 5:10 pm #5442Matt “Rolling Hot” CiceroKeymasterI have foam board, plasti-card and glue all over my desk at work as I slave away on my dime-bag system. Thank goodness I have Dave here to cover the phones!
I am seriosuly not looking forward to making all the dime bag labels…or to stuffing the bags (though I did create my own Feinsteinian Plungomatic Counter-Inserter to speed things up…).

Of course…it's all wasted time/effort/money/energy unless you *actually* play the game…fool.

That's right…and once I *do* learn to read, I'm gonna read the rulebook and see all the ways you've sleazed me over the years…
