I just got an email from Gameology this morning saying they are moving and expanding. Here's most of the text of the message:
Gameology is moving. Our new location will be
9742 Central Ave
Montclair, CA 91763Target Date for Grand Opening
Friday, March 27thThe nearest cross street will be the corner of Central Ave and San Bernadino. This is one block south of the Costco, the landmark most people seem to know. The actual shopping center is the same as the 24 Hour Fitness gym if you are looking for it.
We are very excited about this move. This will be a much better location both for us and for you gamers. This location will have some of the key elements that customers have told us they enjoy about our Claremont location, including:
– A large parking lot (even larger than the existing one.)
– Lots of dedicated play space with tables for gamers of all sorts.
Some benefits the new location will have that are not present at our original location.:
– Near by Access to the 10 Freeway. This ready freeway access will make the store more accessible for most of our customers. This location is roughly 15 minutes drive from our current Claremont location. But the site will be more accessible for many Claremont residents, including any one driving from the southern Claremont Colleges. Thus this location will be more convenient for the majority of our customers and be in well trafficked shopping corridor to attract even more regulars.
– Better access to food with a greater variety of options in ready walking distance and even in the same complex.
– Larger single rooms. This means that a large tournament like Friday Night Magic can be held all with in the same four walls. No more feeling like you were demoted to a back room. Everybody can play in the same space.
And the space will be more usuable, giving us more functional room. With this added room we are . .
EXPANDING OUR PRODUCT LINES
AND OFFERINGS!Expanded product lines will include:
– Expanded Puzzle Section
– Expanded Classic Games Section, like Chess, GO and Backgammon
– Expanded singles sales for collectible card games.Brand new to Gameology will be . . .
– A COMPUTER ROOM! There will be desktop station with internet access and popular games to play. If you have any request for games we should carry for single player, LAN, or internet gaming, let us know! ( And the computers are in a dedicated room, for privacy and so as not to bother or be bothered by our other gamers.)
– We will now be carrying Comic Books.
This last item may be the new service we are most excited about. Thus, read on.
The email then goes on to detail their new comic business. I'm somewhat familiar with the area, it's not the best neighborhood, but not too bad either. We won't be able to walk to Marie Callander's any more though. I'll do a drive by soon and take a look to see what's near there.

March 5, 2009 at 3:58 pm #5628Jim AikensKeymasterThanks Todd,
Just to be clear for everyone: The owner told us that for our March meeting we should still go the old (Foothill Blvd) store, as he will still be in operation there. We will start at the new location in April.
The new location sounds promising, though I think we'll miss Marie Calendar's. As you said, certainly there will be other places for us to get lunch.
March 5, 2009 at 7:02 pm #5627King ScottMemberI did my drive by on the way to work this morning. It looks like most of the places within walking distance are of the fast food variety with an emphesis on Mexican food, but there's Burger King and such as well. For more of a sitdown type place we'll need to go about a mile or so north to the Montaclair Plaza area.
Also, sorry about the double posting, I posted it once and it didn't appear right away so I thought I did something wrong and posted it again, thus the two threads.
March 5, 2009 at 11:46 pm #5629AnonymousGuestFirst, as Jim has already mentioned, this Saturday (March 7th) we're meeting at the current Gameology location on 994 Foothill where we've always met.
We'll talk with the owner and find out what he thinks will work best; from what he has said we'll continue at their new location but it'll be worth a discussion.
