Greetings ASL fans;
Our LA Game Day at the Emerald Knights in Burbank was well-attended, as expected. 8 Club members played a total of 5 games, plus we had a late-afternoon cameo appearance from Dave Rosner.
Stephan Tourville’s Germans defeated Dan Plachta’s Russians in the J8 scenario “Elephants Unleashedâ€.
Because their game got over fairly quickly, Stephan and Dan broke out “Udark Bridgeheadâ€, with Stephan’s Germans defeating Dan’s Russians.
Eric Visnowski’s Germans defeated Blair Bellamy’s Russians in the Schwerepunkt classic “Lisjanka Epitaphâ€.
Mike Cirrincione’s Germans ran out of time against Rob Stai’s French in “Kleckerweise†from the most recent Action Pack.
And my Americans squeaked out a last-CC-phase win against Bill Yuen’s Germans in the J8 scenario “Schloss Hemmingsteinâ€. This scenario revolves around the sizable amount of fortifications the Germans get for the set-up. Bill’s well-constructed defense proved to be a tough nut to crack.
We adjourned for lunch at the sports bar across the street. That proved to be a pretty good choice; decent bar food and a reasonable price. Plus they had Bass Ale on tap.
This was our second Game Day at the Emerald Knights, and my first time at the location. I was impressed; it’s a big store with plenty of open gaming space. The owners are very welcoming. Everyone had a great day.
After we wrapped up, a few of us headed over to the original Bob’s Big Boy (another first for me) for a late dinner. That was great also.
Remember, next week is an unusual 5th Saturday. Bill Yuen has invited everyone to join him at his place in Northridge (check the web site for details). We will be meeting at Gameology the following week (August 7th).
Regards,
Jim
