Hey everyone,
I wanted to introduce myself before I show up at one of the events for the first time. I'm hoping I can make it to Emerald Knights this sunday to get in a game in and meet everyone.
I'm new to the ASL world though I remember wanting to play in '85 when I was fifteen and my older gaming friend didn't want to teach it to me and I couldn't afford the rules then. So ever since then I've had an ASL itch. One I've finally decided to scratch. I've gotten back into wargaming in the last year or so and have been playing Combat Commander: Europe but still ASL calls. So I recently got the first SK and I've been playing around with it a bit solo, reading tutorials, etc. I don't really want to learn anything the wrong way so I'm hoping to play F2F with an experienced player so I get my ducks in a row before I make the leap to full ASL.
I'm hoping once I've started to get the ASL rules down and a smidgen of tactical knowledge to find someone in the LA area to get a regular game going with.
Looking forward to meeting everyone.
Cheers,

Welcome to the SOCALASL site !
I just wanted to let you know that the Emerald Knight game days occur on Saturdays ,not Sunday as your email indicated. The next scheduled meeting at EK is Saturday, August 28 2010 I hope there was no confusion with any of our posts or schedules. This being said , you are most welcome to join us at your convienence and I look forward to meeting you. Generally we show up at or around noon, pair up for a game then after an hour so break for lunch, resuming on return. Jim Aikens, the club president, wrote a note on what to expect at these game days which is archived at the socalasl@yahoogroups site. Its probably in this forum somewhere , but I don not know where.Hope to see you soon,
Regards, Eric Visnowski

Well I couldn't make it to EK today. Forgot my mother in-law was coming to town.So I'll be at the next one for sure, and by then I'll have my RB and BV so maybe I'll have learned enough to give full ASL a go.
Cheers,
