Howdy Listers,
Yesterdays' { August 28, 2020 } game day at Emerald Knight was attended by
seven players, including a guest, Rodney [ I forgot your last name Rodney, my apologies]
who is getting back into ASL.Rob Stai watched over Rodneys game with Stephan Tourville offering rules clarification
etc as they played J 63,Silesian Interlude.Rodney played the attacking Germans and
Stephan the Russian defender. Stephans taut defense along with some rather high
DRs proved to be Rodneys undoing as Stephans Russkies won the hour.Rodney did a fine job despite the cold cubes and l am sure will return for more ASL.
Dan Plachta and Mike Soffa continued Dans' streak of playing scenarios from BTB 2.
Mikes' Germans were tasked with busting through the bocage with little manuver room
in BTBs “Merely Hanging On” in this single board scenario. Dans' American force scored
the win in this engagement as his defense held together and stalled the German attack.Dan has been roping players into scenarios from BTB 2 for a while now , including
myself, and getting a lot of bang for the buck from this module.I have to say the one I
played was quite fun and I promised Dan we' d do another soon.Everyone who has
had the chance to play a scenario from the pack said good things about it. The next
trifecta I hit is going to buy BTB2 for me.The third game played yesterday was OA 32,The Riley Shuffle from the new Out Of The
Attic vol 2. This scenario had Mike C's armor backed G.I.'s tasked with pushing a
German garrison out of some board 12 real estate. As the German defender I had 6
2nd line squads and one 5 4 8 along with a few toys and one Tiger 1,late model on board.
I also received another Tiger 1 as turn one reinforcements. Mikes force consisted of
five or so Shermans, including a Jumbo! all with 76 L MA plus some 3 Hts and one M3
mmg HT, but his squads amounted to only 4 squad equivalents. This can be a very dicey
game with so few units.Mike started off fast and we were engaging in T2, after trading a few shots Mike
made some bold moves into the victory area but was repulsed when one of my Tigers
went on a rate tear that included a critical hit ,killing his 9-2 and a squad, and breaking
an adjacent unit toting a baz. MIke stayed in the game knowing that anything can
happen but in the end my half dozen or so snake eyes and a couple of other lucky
shots deigned that I would win this one.I think the Riley Shuffle favors the defender, with just 4 US squads attacking 7 defenders
they have their work cut out for them. Ther Shermans look to be the key to an American
win and have to work in support of the MMCs and not miss a trick. We broke for a very fast lunch at a local Taco Bell, [ I know what you're thinking ]
which turned out to be fine as we were back pushing cardboard in record time. Also,
considering we have a “tradition” of going to Bobs' Big Boy for dinner afterwards, this
lighter on the pocket and I didn't hear any complaints…We all had a great time and ope to see you all at Gameology in a week.

He definitely had some icy dice, and if a few key rolls had gone the other way, the Germans would have made much more headway.
Hope to see you at more game days, Rodney, and looking forward to playing with you again!
