Just four hardy souls braved the 108 degree temperature in Burbank.

Dateline : France 1944, British armor and infantry forces, under the command
of Mike Soffa decimated the German force at Le Haut du Bosq, commanded
Dan Plachta . Although severely pummled by the Brits, the Germans were
able to hold off a Brit win by trading bodies for real estate in the BTB2 scenario
” Bosq Barbercue” This is a 6 turn barn burner that finds the Brits faced with crossing
open terrain , or alternately making a slow board edge creep to achieve their
    objective, taking 11 stone buildings.

As I have said before, this is one great looking product.Dan Plachta is working his way
through the scenarios and hasn't been dissatified yet. Well, if he has, he didn't tell me!

The war raged on to the north in Chaumont , Belgium as David Rosners' American force
engaged Eric Visnowskis' [ yup, thats me! ] Germans . The Americans were retired
after losing both of their Sherman tanks, one to recall, the other to panzer faust, and a light tank
immobilized in the muddy soil. With the German tank destroyers closing, the American
conceded to fight another day. This scenario was Charging Chaumont [ J 123 ], from Journal 8
Also clocking in at 6 turns it is fast playing and maybe a bit dicey. The American force has to cross
relatively open terrain, deluxe board G- an SSR changes hedges into wire fences- to take out a
multihex building on city boardB. Nothing too imaginative here but challenging, and fun, nonetheless.

The four of us played right through lunch time, with Dan Plachta and I stopping at Bob's Big Boy
for the newly traditional AASLEPh . [ after ASL eating phase] As a side note , Emerald Knights was
FILLED with people, I counted some 40 plus folks involved in a store sponsored Magic the Gathering
tourney. They really seemed to be enjoying themselves. Also, a prospective member stopped by and spoke with
Dan and Mike about ASL and our club.Yet another case of an ex-player returning to the fold.
Finally, the crew at EK has set the A/C to ” arctic” and believe me, this was expected and welcomed!.

I hope to see you at Gameology in a week !
