Howdy fellas! I'm a lost sheep trying to return to the fold.
My background: I'm a former Marine Infantry Officer (uh, from back in the Springfield M1903 days, or so it seems), long time wargamer but only a (relatively) recent ASL convert. Dave Rosner tried to recruit me some 10 years or so ago, but (to my everlasting regret), for various & sundry reasons it didn't take.
I actually made a nascent foray here a few years ago, which coincided with my ASL “birth,” but unfortunately the timeframe conflicted with the absolutely insane pre-publication machinations of a fairly major game I designed for Decision Games, and I had to put ASL on the shelf for over a year. This while I had been happily progressing through Chapter “K.” At any rate, that's long over.
I pretty much play exclusively ASL nowadays; about half of it solitaire. My experience level is fairly low — at least compared with you fellows. I've only had the benefit of sitting across from an experienced ASL player once in my entire life: with Eric Visnowski, who graciously (and for some still unknown-to-me reason) put up with my noobishness a few years ago with “Pegasus Bridge.”
(I have progressed a bit since then, Eric, by the way). We have a small 3-person group that meets at my home here in Burbank twice per month. Bottom line is that I'm no longer a green rookie (OK, maybe olive green). My experience level is a grand total of 235 scenarios. No laughs please, it's a start.
Anyway, I'm planning on meeting at least some of you at the Burbank meet next Sat.
Again, a ~S~* to everyone
*for those without the benefit of having been a member of an online IL-2 Squadron for several years, the ~S~ symbol means a collective “Salute” (as opposed to S!, which is an individual salute).

Welcome aboard! We've got a few Marines in the club, enough for a couple of fire teams…I was in 1st Tanks and 3/1 myself.
Definately get over to the meeting in Burbank, where you can meet some great players. Make sure that you come down to West Coast Melee in February where you can meet just about the entire club and get in 3 full days of ASL.
Semper Fi!
