    Seasons Greetings ASL fans;

We had 7 players for the New Year’s Day edition of our ASL Game Day at Gameology, including one new player, Kevin Legge, who came up from San Diego to check us out.

Scott Thompson’s Russians fell to Eric Visnowski’s Germans in the early war Friendly Fire scenario “One Last Mighty Hew”.

Rob Stai’s Americans defeated Mike Cirrincione’s Japanese in “The Triangle”.

And because Rob and Mike’s game got over a little early, Mike came over and game me a hand with the Russians against Blair Bellamy’s Germans in the Dispatches scenario “The 138 of the 138th”.

As I’ve mentioned in a previous post, this scenario has been at the top of my playlist since I received Dispatches #31. I played it as the Germans against Don Petros last Thursday, and we both thought it might be a bit hard on the Russians. So I did a Russian set-up and brought it to Gameology in hopes of getting someone to take the Germans, and Blair readily volunteered. Although we ran out of time, it appeared that the Russians had the upper hand, and we called it a Russian win. I think the key to this scenario for both sides is mastering the tricky set-up. There is very little margin of error for either player, and that makes it a very exciting scenario. I would definitely like to try this one again.

We had our usual terrific lunch at The Hat, and Kevin promised to join us at Jimmy Hansen’s house for our San Diego Game Day on the 22nd. It was another great day of ASL!

    Gents,

What a great way to start off 2011 ! Five other members and
a guest / member -to-be Kevin Legge. Kevin is new to ASL but not to wargames,so I suspect he will be a fast learner and skillful contender in no time. Welcome aboard Kevin.

I played an enjoyable scenario with Scott Thompson from FRF entitled “One Last Mighty Hew” I was fortunate that Scott was a bit rusty and erred on his set up .His dice were as cold as ice, disproving the global warming BS too.
But more importantly, by crushing his will to live under the treads of my panzers, I was able to escape ASL bitch status.I was in a fight for my sanity and street cred, such as it is.

For those not familiar with ASL bitch status, it basically infers that you have lost a certain number of ASL games [ in a row] to a particular person. This may be a SOCALASL thing or maybe world wide.In our case ,afaik, bitch hood
seems to occur when you have lost 3 to 5 games in a row.

I am thinking we need convention here: Can one be a multiple bitch? Are there “bitch aces” out there ? Can one
“de-bitch” one's self and if so, how?
Perhaps there is a pressing need to address this subject,I don't know. But at any rate I am happy to have avoided this horrific fate for now!

Hope to see more of you at the game days, lets try to make 2011 a banner year for attendance!

    See ya, ev

Dude, Eric, that was probably the best post I'll read all year.

I'll break down the bitch rules later this morning after I get the kids to school. :)

    Semper Fi!
