We had five members in attendance for the December edition of our ASL Game Day at Gameology:

Dan Plachta and Glenn Sellar teamed up for “The One Hundredth”; a scenario featuring deep snow and extreme winter conditions during the 1941 Russian counter-attacks around Moscow. Dan’s Russians defeated Glenn’s Germans. This looked like a very tense, interesting scenario that would be worth trying.

And Eric Visnowski took on me and Blair Bellamy in “Where Iron Crosses Grow” from the Out of the Bunker pack. This scenario has been on my play-list for a while, and features a late-war mixed force of German Infantry with a Pak 75 and a couple of Pz IV’s defending against a well-led force of 23 Russian squads with 9 T-34’s. The trick is the Russians have to attack across open ground with no Smoke capacity and the Germans get a buttload of fortifications. EV took the Germans and Blair and I took the Russians. It turned out to be a terrific, exciting scenario. The German player has to be prepared to fight to the last counter in this one, and the Russian has to expect to withstand a lot of casualties. In the end, the Germans simply ran out of guys first, and we called it a Russian win on the next to last turn. It was a lot of fun. I would happily play this one again as either side.

We made our usual trek to The Hat for lunch, and wrapped up around 10:00 PM. It was another fine day of ASL!
