We had an outstanding turnout this past Saturday at our March Game Day at Emerald Knights in Burbank: 15 members played a total of 9 games:
In a battle of the Daves; Dave Nicholas’ Russians defeated Dave Derizinski’s Germans in the Journal 10 scenario “Rage Against the Machineâ€.
Eric Visnowski defeated Dan Plachta in “Cornered Tigersâ€.
Chip Wertenberger’s Germans scored a down-to-the-last turn victory over Sal Pelaez’s Russians in “Parry and Strikeâ€.
Nadir Elfarra’s Russians fell to Dave Reinking’s Germans in the interestingly named scenario “Spittlemarketâ€.
Mike Soffa’s Russians came up just a little short of exit VP’s against Dave Perham’s Germans in “Sons of Slavaâ€.
Kevin Kiff and Ed Esparza shot for a VotG double-header. In their first match, Ed’s Germans defeated Kevin’s Russians in “Eviction Noticeâ€. But Keven evened the score in the second matchup when he beat Ed in “Under Murderous Fireâ€.
With an odd number of players Larry Reinking and I paired up against Dave Rosner in the Deluxe classic “Gurev’s Headquartersâ€. Dave concluded on the top of turn 2 that his Russians had no hope of winning, and we called it a German victory. Because the first game got over so quickly Larry and I squared off in another Deluxe scenario “Back to School†My Russians were on the verge of exiting exactly what I needed for a win, when one of my squads went berserk and turned back to kill some more Germans and cost me the win. It was a very exciting, down to the wire finish.
We enjoyed our usual chili dog lunch at Larry’s, and the survivors adjourned after for our traditional late dinner at Bob’s Big Boy. We had a great turnout and a ton of fun, as always.
