Our first official game day at Jj's Game Lounge consisted of five club members: Kevin Kiff David Nicholas, Ed Esparza, Bill Yuen and me. Bill and Dave paired up to play It's Only Fair from the latest
Journal with Dave's German force besting Bill's defending Americans. After this game was finished Bill and Dave turned table and played again , this time Bill's Germans retiring Dave's Amis in a down-to-the-wire finish.

Meanwhile, back on the farm, Kevin and me teamed up to take on Ed's defending German force in “Hervorst Hell” from the old Riley's Road HASL. This scenario has a lot of chrome what with a German rocket attack, battalion mortar OBA and a pair of 150mm guns in pill boxes. Our Canadian force of 15 squads were assisted by 2 Crocodiles,2 Churchill's and 2 AVRE attacked as widely dispersed as possible in order to avoid any devastation from the rockets and moved up to close as fast as possible to make using the oba units painful for Ed..

In the end ,our Canadian force took the victory locations needed for the win . Hervorst Hell requires substantial planning on both sides. Mistakes will be severely punished and exploited. The German's have to decide which of the victory locations to defend and then defend in depth. The Canadian challenge is to set up and move as dispersed as possible, then maneuver into fighting formation with the rocket equivalent of the Sword of Damocles hovering in the cloudy skies overhead. Good scenario here.

Finally, Dave Rosner stopped by to say hello and check out the games . For lunch we made the huge trek next door to the Italian deli for some good food. Later on, quite late, Bill, Dave and me stopped by In n Out for a late dinner. The staff and customers at Jj';s are all friendly polite folks they were nice to accommodate our group considering there was a Magic tournament in session. We managed to talk to several folks interested in ASL and may soon have a new member or two.

    Regards, EV
