We had a solid 8 members, plus cameos from John Lehman and Ryan Vosnak, in attendance for the April edition of our ASL Game Day at Gameology. There was an early war theme in the air…

I forget sometimes how cool desert scenarios can be. It was really enjoyable to watch Chip Wertenberger and Eric Visnowski go at it in “A Gift of Time”. In the end, Chip's Germans gutted out a hard fought victory over EV's stubborn British.

Dan Plachta, fresh off his March Madness Championship, took his Germans to victory over Dave Nicholas' French in “The Final Attempt”.

Dave Derizinski's French defeated Rob Stai's Germans in “Kleckerweise”.

And Jeff Toney and I paired up for the first time and selected “A Polish Requiem” Jeff had the Germans and came on strong for his first couple of turns. But my Polish tankers got lucky early on, and the armor battle started to go south for the Germans. Jeff continued to play hard, but it just wasn't meant to be, and my Poles were victorious. We had a fun game, and I'm glad we finally got the opportunity to get a game in.

After our usual excellent lunch at The Hat, at Jeff's suggestion we made a detour to a hobby store nearby called Pegasus Hobbies. I must say the store was geek heaven. We were all pretty impressed by both the variety and depth of the inventory. Trains, slot cars, RC planes and cars, models (military, auto, airplane, etc.) games, books, you name it. The store just went on and on. I can't believe we never noticed it before. Thanks for the recommendation Jeff!

It was another terrific Game Day for SoCalASL.
