Howdy Socalasl'ers
Our second games day in a row at Jj's Game Lounge brought out five club members.
Dave Rosner an dEd Esparza were setting up Semper Paratus when I arrived, with Dave
defending against Ed;''s attacking Brits.This is a fast 4 turn tension fest with the Brits
trying to wrest German pillboxes for the win.
Their game came down to a final CC DR giving Ed the win. Since they finished so quickly
Ed and Dave set up It's Hardly Fair from the latest Journal[ or AP] .In this contest Dave's
defending troops retired Ed's German combined attack a turn early to win the scenario.
Having an odd number of players ,the remaining three,MIke Soffa, Dave Nicholas and
me decided to give Schwerpunkt's “Give Them Some Steel ” , with Dave and I taking
the attacking Americans vs Mike's Italian defenders.Much going on here in an all infantry
scenario .The US player
were tasked with clearing a valley of an Italian mob while notlosing 12vp. Both sides are well armed and quite capable of winning.However , I am convinced
the US player has to stay on the gas pedal in typical Schwerpunkt fashion.
Our efforts to dislodge Mike's force was valiant but did not prevail.The scenario ended
with Mikes Italian force winning the game. It was a fun scenario.
We broke for lunch at the deli next door,this really is a good restaurant,gorging on pizza and
sandwiches, and enjoyed the scantily clad CSUN bikini team's antics as usual.Ending our
session with the sun still in the sky we headed to In N Out for a burger then hit the road.
