Greetings ASL Fans;
We had 8 members, plus cameos from Paul Barker and Bill Yuen, for the July edition of our ASL Game Day at JJ’s Game Lounge in Chatsworth.
Dan Plachta’s Canadians defeated Mike Soffa’s Germans in “Corianoâ€.
Ed Esparza’s Japanese failed to hold the hill against Dave Nicholas’ Marines in “First Crack at Helzapopin’ Ridgeâ€.
Dave Reinking’s Americans defeated Eric Visnowski’s Germans in “Trigger Happy Joes.â€
And Dave Perham and I paired up for the Dispatches scenario “Clearing Kamienkaâ€. Unfortunately I didn’t realize I just played it a month ago with Dave Nicholas and Eric Visnowski until we were set up and ready to roll. Oh well. It’s a cool scenario, and well worth the effort. I took the Germans against Dave’s Russians. I’d like to say it was superb troop handling and masterful planning that won the day for me, but this was a scenario that just didn’t go right for Dave from the start, and got worse as it progressed. We finally pulled the plug and called it a German victory after turn 5. Whatever, I’ll take my victories where I can find them when I’m facing a perennial WCM championship contender like Dave.
We enjoyed our usual lunch on the patio at the Italian Deli next door to JJ’s. And because all of the games cleared fairly early, we decided to head over to the Bear Pit for a nice barbecue dinner. As always it was a great way to spend a Saturday. On to Gameology next week!
