We had a very solid 8 members in attendance for our Special Game at Gameology on Saturday.

John Lehman’s Americans fell to Dave Nicholas’ Germans in “Rag Tag Circus”.

Rob Stai and Eric Visnowski paired up for the (no surprise here…) Deluxe scenario “It Don’t Come Easy”. In a very close game Rob’s Americans defeated EV’s Germans. This scenario has been on my playlist for while, and I’d previously heard good things about it. Rob and Eric both thought it was well worth the effort and that it would make a good tournament scenario.

Chip Wertenberger’s Germans defeated Blair Bellamy’s British in a favorite scenario of mine “ Miracle at Sinagoga”.

And Scott Thompson and I paired up for “Sting of the Italian Hornet”. I’d seen two previous playings of this, and both were very close. The dice gave Scott the Canadians against my Italians. I held my fire for the first movement phase to keep the OBA from coming in. By turn 3 Scott’s Canadians were right up against my main line, and we both sensed that it was now or never for him. So he pushed hard, with everything he had. I got multiple shots with my 75* Guns which both IF’d, and a pivot IF shot with my Hornet. When the smoke cleared, all three Shermans were dead or disabled and the Canadian attack had been broken. We decided to call it an Italian win. This was a fun scenario that’s been on my playlist for quite some time. I glad I finally got a chance to play it. Scott played a great game, and we had a great time. I would like to try this scenario as the Canadian.

And because our games cleared fairly quickly, Dave Nicholas and I paired up for a short, all-infantry scenario: “Totensonntag” which has early war Poles attacking Germans, who are trying to keep from getting cut off and killed. In a very close game, Dave’s Poles got just enough points for the victory over my Germans. This was a fun and fast scenario (I think we played it in about 3 hours.) As always, Dave and I had a great time.

In the mid-afternoon we made our usual trek to The Hat for lunch, and that never gets old.

We’ll be returning to Gameology next Saturday for our regularly scheduled Game Day.

In our game Chip made a smart move that I'll have to try sometime. He set up his guns, AA and MTR, close to each other. I thought I'd cleared the way for my troops to move forward when I broke the crew of the 88L and it routed back into the woods. Wrong–his hidden MTR Crew dropped possession and advanced to the AA gun position, remanned the weapon and then survived all the fire I could throw at it to flame a Sherman in the Defensive Fire Phase. Then he rallied the broken crew and it picked up the MTR. The old switcheroo…
