We had ten players, including a visitor from Seattle, plus cameos from Bill Yuen and Dave Rosner for the September edition of our ASL Game Day at JJ’s Game Lounge.

Blair Bellamy and Sale Palaez paired up for two scenarios. In “Trapped” Blair’s Germans defeated Sal’s Americans in a down-to-the-last-DR game. In “Death Rattle”, their second scenario of the day, Blair’s Brit’s and Sal’s Germans fought to a draw when they ran out of time.

Dan Plachta’s Germans fought to draw against Fen Yan and a late-arriving Dave Nicholas’ Americans in the High Ground scenario “Tigers on the Hill.”

Our visitor, Terry Gray from Seattle, took the Germans against Eric Visnowski and Dave Kocot’s Russians in the new LFT Deluxe pack scenario “To Have and to Hold”. In the end, Terry’s Germans ran out of places to hide, and they called it a Russian victory.

Ed Esparza and I also paired up for “To Have and to Hold”. Our game came right down to the wire. Actually, Ed’s Russians had me on the ropes from turn 4 on. On the next to last turn I abandoned the last victory building and pulled back into the woods for a last-turn counter attack. Ed’s Russians set up to hold on for my push, and on the last player turn I sent my surviving Germans back in. After punishing DF and AF, my last 467 and a 9-1 leader advanced into the last VC building against a lone 458. I declared HtH and rolled a 5, killing the Russians. Ed needed a 6 or less to kill all of my troops, but rolled 8, giving me the win. Yeah, it really was that close! It’s an excellent scenario and Ed did a great job with his attack.

We walked next door and introduced Terry to San Carlo Deli. It was unusually crowded, but eventually we all got fed. The survivors retired to The Habit for our usual late dinner. It was an outstanding turnout and an outstanding day of ASL!
