We had a solid 6 members for our December ASL Game Day at Gameology:
Eric Visnowski and Dave Kocot paired up for two scenarios. In the first, EV’s Germans defeated Dave’s Russians in “The Last Tigerâ€. In their second game, Dave’s Americans fell to Eric’s Japanese in “Last of Their Strengthâ€.
Jim Svette and Fen Yan paired up in the Hedgerow Hell classic “Repulsedâ€. Hey it has 38 squads, but it’s only 10 turns. No problem for these two. In an all-day playing Jim’s Germans defeated Fen’s Americans.
And Mike Meeks and I paired up for the AP10 scenario “Show of Forceâ€. This is an interesting scenario. It has a small but good quality German force riding in halftracks and backed by a Tiger, Flame Tank, two PzIIIN’s and two PzIVF2’s assaulting a Russian-held village. The Russians get a company of infantry, a 76L and a T34 at start. On turn 3 another two squads, two more T34’s and a T70 ride to the rescue.
Both of us had stupid dice rolls all day; just one of those days of spectacular hits and spectacular misses by both sides. My first MA shot with the Tiger Malf’d the gun. And my first shot with Flame Tank broke the FT. But I got a critical hit on Mike’s 76L and Mike had missed several easy shots by his T34’s at critical points. When the smoke cleared, my Germans defeated Mike's Russians. It turned out to be a good game and we both had fun. I’d play this one again as either side.
We had our usual lunch at The Hat, and cleared out of the store just before closing. It has another fun day of ASL!
