We had a record-setting 13 players for the January edition of our ASL Game Day at JJ’s Game Lounge in Chatsworth.
Dave Rosner’s Americans fell to Kevin Kiff’s Germans in “Priests on the Lineâ€.
Geoff Coward’s Americans narrowly defeated Mike Soffa’s Germans in the Deluxe scenario “It Don’t Come Easyâ€.
Dave Kocot had the Germans against Dave Nicholas’ Americans in the classic scenario “Hitdorf on the Rhineâ€. This game came down to a razor close finish. Both players were sure they had a win in hand when the store closed at 9:00 PM, and unfortunately we had to declare it a draw.
Blair Bellamy and Jaime Palaez’s Americans defeated Sal Palaez’s Germans in “Diversionary Attack†from the Purple Heart Draw module.
And Eric Visnowski and I took the attacking Russians against Ed Esparza and Bill Yuen’s Germans in “Ivan is Coming†from the LSSAH pack from Lone Canuck. We thought this looked a little hard on the Germans, and gave them the balance. The Russians have a large force of infantry backed by 8 T34M43’s and a couple of SU122’s, facing a small, well lead infantry force of SS backed by 3 StuG’s, 2 PzIV’s and a bunch of half tracks. The Russians have to capture buildings and exit. It was an exciting fight, and on the last possible turn Eric and I managed to exit exactly enough points for the win. It was a fun and exciting scenario.
We had our usual excellent lunch next door at San Carlo Deli, and a large group of the survivors made the trek to The Habit for our customary late dinner. It was an outstanding day with an outstanding turnout.
