We had 8 members in attendance for the June edition of our SoCalASL Game Day at Emerald Knights:
Sal Palaez’ French defeated Dan Kaufmann’s Germans in “Strangers in the Strange Landâ€
Dave Nicholas and Blair Bellamy paired up for the Journal scenario “Marders not Martyrsâ€. In the first playing, Dave’s Germans defeated Blair’s Russians. Dave won again as the Russians in their second playing. I think Blair can conclude that this is not his scenario.
And we got a little playtesting done as well, with Eric Visnowski playing the Japanese against Dave Rosner with the Marines in EV’s still unnamed ‘Marine Raiders’ scenario.
Meanwhile, Matt Cicero and I paired up to work on the SK scenario “Cold Cauldronâ€, trying a new SSR for the road. Unfortunately, though the road rule work fine, the mismatch of dice made the balance aspect of the playtest a bit meaningless. My average dice roll was probably a 5.5 (and I never rolled above 10) against Matt’s 9.5 (and he never rolled below a 4). But we had fun and got a lot done with the scenario.
We made our usual trip for chili dogs at Larry’s, and because all the games cleared fairly early, the survivors decided to get dinner at Sizzler for a change of pace. Not a bad choice.
It was a great day overall.
