We had 8 members plus a cameo from Matt Cicero for our August Game Day at Emerald Knights in Burbank:
Blair Bellamy and Sal Palaez squared off with “The Old Town”, with Blair's Partisan's defeating Sal's Germans.
Eric Visnowski's Russians and Dan Plachta's Germans fought to a draw in the Texas Team Tournament Pack's “Tough Enough”. This was a very close game that was going to come down to the last DR. Unfortunately they ran out of time when the store closed at 11:00 PM.
And we had two playings of the Texas Team Tournament Pack scenario “Show of Force”. In the first playing, Kyle Li's Russians and Dave Rosner's Germans fought to a draw as both players had to leave at 6:00 and the game was just too close to call. In the other playing of this scenario, Dave Nicholas' Germans went over the CVP cap, giving my Russians the win at the end of turn 4. It was a close game, and I would definitely play it again.
And because my game with Dave cleared early enough, we paired up for a little Schwerepunkt gem “Quiet Desperation”. This scenario pits 7 German squads and two PzIIA's against 5 British squads with two 37* Guns. With 4.5 turns and 1/2 board, this scenario is quick and dirty, with a surprising amount of re-playability. In our playing, my Brits held out for the win over Dave's Germans. Give this one a try for a quick and fun game.
Because of the heat, we had Larry's Hot Dogs to ourselves for our usual chili dog lunch. And the survivors retired to Bob's Big Boy for our usual late dinner. It was a fine way to spend a hot Saturday.
