We had an excellent turnout for the September edition of our ASL Game Day at Gameology, with 10 members, plus Scott Patterson, an ASL'er from years past who is coming back into the hobby:

We decided to ease Scott Patterson back into the fold with a SK scenario: he and Blair Bellamy paired up for “Retaking Vierville”, with Scott's Americans defeating Blair's Germans.

Scott Thompson's Germans fell to Eric Visnowski's Canadians in the Deluxe scenario “Good Shepherd”

John Lehman's Germans defeated Jim Svette's Russians in a razor close playing of “Best Think Again”.

Roman Cicero, as the Germans, defeated his Dad, Matt Cicero as the Russians in “Clash at Bosikovka”.

And I had showed up hoping to get in playing of “Operation Kutuzov”, a scenario I'd never played before, but looked really cool. Dave Nicholas and I took the Russians against Dave 'Special K''s Germans. Dave and I came in with a good strategy but honestly, Special K was just getting killed by the dice. We all had fun, but finally called it on turn 5 when it was obvious the Russians would be able to exit enough units for the win. I earlier said I'd never played this scenario before, but I said it with tongue in cheek. In fact, Eric came by and reminded me that he and I had played the scenario a couple of months ago. Then Matt Cicero and John Lehman came by to remind me that I had played the scenario with them also. Seriously? I had played the scenario twice before, within a few months… and didn't remember? Yikes! I'm going with the excuse that I play so frequently I've lost track of what I've played and not played. Yeah, that's the ticket… Otherwise I've developed some form of ASL dementia. Of course, in true SoCalASL style, I had to suffer through a great deal of ribbing from my comrades for the remainder of the day.

We enjoyed our usual lunch at The Hat, and a large group of survivors adjourned to Chili's for a late dinner. All in all, it was an outstanding day!
