For whatever reason, our attendance was somewhat below typical for E.K., we had six members in attendance, included a late-arriving Dave Nicholas:
Blair Bellamy's New Zealanders fell to Sal Palaez' Germans in “Travontis Bridge”.
Sal cleared out after his game, and shortly thereafter Dave Nicholas arrived. Blair and Dave then paired up for the SK scenario “Legio Patria Nostra”, with Nick's Germans defeating Blair's Free French.
And Mike Soffa drew the Germans against me and Eric Visnowski as the Americans in the upcoming Journal 11 scenario ” Assault on Baerendorf”. This is a mid-size scenario that features a depleted company of Germans defending the Board 1A village against a reinforced company of American Infantry backed by 5 Shermans. The Germans have a 75L AT Gun, and a JdPz IV that can set up HIP. On turn 3 the Germans get some infantry reinforcements I must say, this was a very fun and exciting scenario and we all agreed we'd happily play it again as either side.
We made our usual trek to Larry's for chili dogs served by our friend Veronica. The survivors retired to Bob's Big Boy for our usual after-game dinner. Both meals were as enjoyable as always.
Evidently it was a low-turnout day for everyone; E.K. ran a Magic tournament that had a frightful number of empty chairs (it's usually packed.) In any case, we had a great day and a lot of fun as always.
