We had 6 members in attendance for the November edition of our ASL Game Day at Gameology.
The place was mobbed when we got there; evidently they had a Magic tournament with an unexpectedly large turnout. But Kevin promised he'd find us some space regardless, and he did. We decided to catch an early lunch to give Kevin time to get us some space. We knew Blair was on his way, so Scott Thompson waited for him while Jim Svette an Dan Plachta set up “To Ashes” from Friendly fire. Eric Visnowski and I had prearranged a re-match of the upcoming J11 Deluxe scenario “Ramcke's Redoubt”.
In the end, Jim Svette's Brits defeated Dan's Germans. Scott was taken out from a migraine, so Blair joined Eric and I when he arrived.
“Ramcke's Redoubt” is a Deluxe scenario from the upcoming Journal 11. It features two full, well-led American rifle companies (25 squads) assaulting a tough gang of 5-4-8 and 4-4-7 German Paras. The Americans get a couple of M10 TD's, a self-propelled 150, and a Greyhound, plus 3 FT's and 5 DC's for support. The Germans get a quad 37AA gun and a 75* Inf gun, plus loads of fortifications. It's a barn-burner of a scenario, and by the end of our playing the Americans were down to less than a dozen or so squads and the Germans down to about half that. We ran out of time and had to call it on turn 6 of 8, but it looked pretty clear like the Americans were going to win, if barely. We all liked this scenario a lot and look forward to playing it again when it comes out in the next Journal.
We made our usual trip to The Hat for lunch, and adjourned just as the store was closing at 10:00 PM.
