We had 6 members, plus cameo's from Bill Yuen, and later Dave Rosner, for the April edition of our ASL Game Day at All Ways Gaming in Chatsworth.
Eric Visnowski's Germans defeated Dave Nicholas' Brit's in the new Journal scenario “Hart Attack”. Both of them liked the scenario.
Blair Bellamy's Russians defeated Ed Esparza's SS in “Manstein's Lifeline”.
And Mike Soffa and I paired up for the Fanatic Enterprises scenario “Blue Danube”, with me taking the attacking Hungarians against Mike's Russians. This is an elegantly simple scenario with a well-led company of elite Hungarians, supported by 3 Zryni A.G.'s. The Russians have to hold 3 buildings, and get a OT34 on turn 3. Mike had a great setup, and for once had average (not great, just average) luck. In the end, my men came up short on the last turn and we called it a well-earned Russian victory.
Because we still had a couple of hours, we flipped the scenario around and tried again, but only got to turn 4 and called it a draw. It was shaping up to be another close game. We both liked this scenario a lot. It's fast playing and interesting.
As we did last month, we called ahead to San Carlo Deli, and that saved us a lot of time. We cleared out when the store closed at 7:00, and had a relaxing dinner at The Habit. It was another great day!
