We had an excellent turnout of 9 members for our Game Day at The Guild House in Bellflower.

Dave Nicholas' Partisans defeated Ed Espaza's Brits in the Journal scenario “Heart of Athena”.

Blair Bellamy's Germans defeated Fen Yan's Russians in Rally Point scenario “Comrade Klimenkov”.

Stance Nixon's Vichey French fell to Dan Plachta's Brits in the High Ground scenario “Bonny Novelle”.

And that left me as the Americans against Scott Thompson and Eric Visnowski as the Germans in the ESG Deluxe scenario “Frosty the Dead Man” (love that title). We liked this scenario a lot; good force pools, interesting board configuration, fast playing, and challenges for both sides. But by turn 4 it was obvious my Americans had won a clear victory. Although it shows 2-2 on the ROAR, I suspected it was a little tough on the Germans, and we turned it around. In the second try, my Germans went down handily to Eric's Americans. So we tried it again, with Nick taking the Germans against me and Ed as the Americans, and… yeah, the Americans won again; it was over again by turn 3. Too bad, we all thought this was a cool scenario and a hell of a lot of fun to play.

We made our usual trip to Sizzler for lunch, and the survivors adjourned to Chris and Pit's for some excellent late-night barbecue.

The Guild House's always gracious owners were on vacation, and they left the store in the hands of some friends who were running a Magic tournament. We were very appreciative that even though table space was very limited, they made room for us with two full tables.
