We had another solid showing for the June edition of our SoCalASL Game Day at All Ways Gaming in Chatsworth, with 10 members in attendance.

Eric Visnowski's Germans defeated Mike Soffa's Russians in “The Fraternal Grave”.

Jimmy Hansen's Germans defeated Ed Esparza's Belgians in “Belgian Blitzkrieg”.

Dave Nicholas' Americans were diced (by all accounts) into submission by Dan Plachta's Germans in “Disobry Defiant”.

James Quinn's Germans and Sal Palaez' Russians fought to a draw in “Show of Force”.

And I took the Slovak's against Phil Seymour's Germans in “Rebels Without a Pause”. I had previously played this as the Germans against Dave Lewis, so I volunteered to take the attacking Slovaks. I chose the level 3 (easist) VC's, which delayed my Partisan's entry until turn 3. Phil had an excellent set-up, and got his troops back in good order as my Slovaks moved forward steadily for the first 3 turns. But by then I'd hit the German MLR, anchored by the 20L AA Gun in an excellent interlocked position. That damn 20L wouldn't die, even against multiple shots while encircled, and my attack started to hang up. My Partisans made good progress, but their job is mostly to draw off German defenders so the Slovaks can get it done. On the final turn I cleared the front VC building, and got my one surviving tank and several squads into the rear building, but didn't have enough strength to clear it in time, and we called it a German win.

I've played this one a couple of times and I think its fun and pretty even. Phil and I had a very enjoyable game, as we always do.

We had lunch on the patio at San Carlo Deli, which was hot but delicious as always. For dinner, the survivors opted for Marie Calendar's air conditioning and a change of pace. It was another excellent, if hot, day of ASL.
