We had 8 members in attendance, plus cameos by Dave Nicholas and Bill Yuen, for our Game Day at All Ways Gaming in Chatsworth:
Phil Seymour's Germans defeated Mike Soffa's Russians in “Hohenstaufen Hootenanny”.
Sal Pelaez' Germans defeated Blair Bellamy's Russians in “Bridgehead Over the Venta”.
James Quinn's French defeated Ed Esparza's Germans in “Last Defense Line”.
And Eric Visnowski took took the attacking French against my Germans in “Sudden Death”. This is a France '40 scenario that has an elite company of French infantry attacking a gaggle of second line and conscript Germans defending hill. The terrain is rugged, and the Germans have some fortifications to help. There's a +1 LV hindrance that helps both sides to some extent. I put a couple of conscript half squads on the woods road far in front, while everything else went into entrenchments on Hill 601 behind the stream. Eric decided on a 'hey diddle diddle, straight up the middle' strategy; using his superior moral and firepower to blast through to the bridge and into my lines. My conscript speed bumps bought me a turn, which is all I could expect. Eric's troops battered my lines, and at one point he got a couple of half squads over the bridge and nearly into my fragile lines. But my Germans barely held on for the win. This is a quick playing, all infantry scenario that's worth a try.
We had our usual excellent lunch on the patio at San Carlo Deli. The survivors adjourned for our usual late dinner at The Habit. It was another great Game Day in Chatsworth.
