Howdy Folks,
i was just thinking over the ASL games I played in 08 and thought it might make an interesting topic for the forums:
Which scenario or two did you play in 08 that stick out in your mind as fun and oexciting? For myself I would have to say “The Good Shepard” ,HS 30. from Rileys Road Historical Pack which I played with Dave Rosner, this was one harrowing game ! It was a balls to the walls slug fest that I just managed to win by a thin margin. If you havent played this German -Brit scenario it should be on your list. It is a fast playing deluxe game with plenty of toys.
Another one I enjoyed quite a bit was from our very own Melee Pack 3 MP 17,”Bagging Burcorps”.I played this one with Rob Stai and also had a hell of a game, it came down to a final CC in which I was lucky to prevail. Bryan Earl did a great job on Burcorp and it was fun to play;its a withdrawal action in which the defender tries to keep the Japanese attacker out of backfield huts .Burcorp has been getting play out in the ASL world and is another fast playing scenario.
Thats it for now,…. what did you play in 08?

Thinking back on the 60-odd scenarios I played in 2008 there are three that really stand out in my mind:
FrF22 “Wunderwaffeâ€. Don’t be put off by the German 75LL AT Gun; pull out the 75L counters and use your imagination. I played this scenario at ASLOK against my good friend Darrell Wright. It came highly recommended and got a lot of play at ASLOK in 2007. Of the many, many games Darrell and I have played through the years, none were as exciting or as close as this one.
VoTG6 “Enter Draganâ€. I am a big fan of VoTG; I think all of the scenarios are well worth the effort. This scenario, which I played last summer with Dave Perham, has to rank up there with the best of them. Our playing came down to the wire, and was exciting and challenging every step of the way. It’s big, bitchin’ and not for the feint of heart. It’s also a Night scenario. Don’t let that put you off, though. Night is easy once you get the hang of it, and a scenario like this makes it worth your while to learn the rules.
G6 “Rocket’s Red Glareâ€. Hey, no snickering. Really, this is my all-time favorite scenario, and I played it for… I dunno… maybe the 10th time… against Geoff at the October Game Day at Gameology. This scenario has it all; SS vs 747 Paras, Guns, interesting armor, and sudden death VC’s, all packed into a fairly short, one board scenario. Give the Germans the balance and this sucker is as perfectly balanced as a scenario can get. And like my other two picks, it’s exciting, fun and challenging for both sides.
