….but since I wasn't there, I'd really like to know what the heck went on…

    Somebody wake up Geoff!

Actually, I took some notes for Jim. I didn't do a good job, sadly. Pick on Jim and me. Unless Geoff did some stealth recording….

But Geoff is so much more fun to pick on. I think it must be the result of a guilty conscience… 8P

    Argh, I'm awake. I think.

We had a really big turnout; about 16 people over the course
    of the day.

    Jim was kind enough to send me this write-up of the games played;
I had to leave early (went to the Dodger game). No, didn't catch
Manny Ramirez' first home run ball as a Dodger. :)

    S15 “Hammer to the Teeth”
Candice Juliano’s Americans defeated Michael Cirrincione’s Germans

    S28 “Out of Luck”
Bill Yuen’s Germans defeated David Butterfield’s Russians

    HS23 “Tussle at Thomashof”
Dave Nicholas’ Germans defeated Eric Visnowski’s British (extremely close game)

    ASL113 “Liberating Besarabia”
Matt Cicero’s Russians defeated Chris Castalana’s Rumanians

    FE4 “Whirling Dervishes”
Glen Sellar’s French defeated Jim Aikens’ Italians

    J65 “Brave Little Emchas”
Rob Stai’s Russians defeated Mike Soffa’s Germans

    S24 “Sherman Marches West”
Dan Plachta’s Germans defeated Todd Schallberg’s Russians

Our Gameology attendance this month was truly remarkable; 16 players… in other places in the country there are multi-day events that would consider 16 to be a very good turnout. And Geoff didn’t mention that we had our usual great lunch at Marie Calendar’s as well.

On a personal note, I want to thank Glen for a very fun game; his first foray into desert terrain, and my first in quite some time. “Whirling Dervishes” is, well, something different as scenarios go. It has Elite French vs first line Italians in the desert, both sides get quite a number of heavily armed (but unarmored) scout cars and trucks blasting away at each other amid light dust. It seems like one of those scenarios that you have to play once to figure out what’s going on, and I’m not sure I’ll jump at the chance to play this one a second time. But Glen and I had fun regardless.

Thanks, Candice for taking the notes of the games and participants for the AAR. It allowed Glen and I to finish our scenario just barely before closing.

And thanks again to those who came; it was great to see everyone.

    Regards,

    Jim
