We had six players in attendance, including one of SoCalASL's founding members and frequent WCM champ, Herman Frettlohr, who has been AWOL since 2006.
Dan Plachta's Russians defeated Dave Nicholas' Germans in “Show of Force”.
Eric Visnowski's Japanese defeated Dave Rosner's Americans in “On the Road Again”.
And Herman and I paired up for the Operations scenario “Second City”. Herman had the defending Hungarian/Germans against my attacking Russians. I have to say, Herman's 9 year absence did much affect his skill level, or even his command of the rules. We had a fun and exciting game, and it came down to the last turn, with Herman's Axis troops defeating my hard-charging Russians.
We had our usual pleasant chili-dog lunch at Larry's, and a couple of survivors made the trip to Bob's for a late dinner. It was very nice to catch up with Herman and hear his stories from LAPD homicide. We're hoping to see him at some future Club events.
