We had four members for the December edition of our ASL Game Day at Gameology. We decided on “Along the Vistula”, a big ass, four board scenario that's perfect for four players. The dice gave Dave Kocot and Jim Svette the defending Poles against me and Scott Thompson as the Germans.

This is a mostly infantry scenario that's perfect for four players. The playing area is split by a river that can't be crossed. Scott and Special K squared off on the larger side, while Jim Svette and I faced off on the smaller side. Both sides get OBA, the Germans get a couple of PzI's on one side of the river, while the Poles get a couple of 75 ART on the other. The Germans can either capture all the multi-hex stone buildings or win immediately by exiting 35 CVP. This is a nice, straightforward city fight and we had a great game. Capturing the buildings seems like a sucker bet, and we dismissed that objective in the planning stage. We went for the exit and came up just short with 29; close but not enough. We had a great game that played very quickly considering its size. We all agreed we'd happily play it again as either side.

Because we still had some time, Special K agreed to take a crack at “Out of Cowardice”, another AoO scenario I wanted to try out with an update from MMP. The dice game Dave the attacking Hungarians and I took the Yugoslavians. ROAR has this 85% pro-Yugo, and the MMP fix is one extra tank, squad and LMG for the Hungarians. This didn't seem like it would be enough, but Dave made a hell of a try. Unfortunately we ran out of time with one turn to go. At that point we were facing a very close end-game, and frankly it was too hard to call. At this point, the fix looks pretty good. I definitely want to try it again.

We enjoyed lunch at The Hat out on the patio. It was a very enjoyable day of ASL!
