We had five members for the February meeting of our ASL Game Day at Gameology Games in Upland:
Jim Svette's Russians defeated Fen Yan's Germans in the revised version of “Brave Little Emchas”.
Scott Thompson decided to kibitz for the afternoon.
And James Quinn took the attacking Russians against my Germans in an obscure Deluxe scenario “The Strongpoint” (so obscure, in fact, it has no ROAR record, though it's dated from 1997.) The Germans get a mixed force of infantry, including three 8-3-8's, to defend a factory for 4 turns. They also get two Stu42's and two StuGIIIG's in support. The Russians get a company of Guards infantry backed by three T34-85's. This is a knife fight in a phone booth. The armor match up is an interesting addition to the infantry battle. James spread his men out and came in from 3 directions. The fight was fast, violent and close. James' Russians broke into the factory with his last T34, but in the end my Germans held on for the win. We had a lot of fun with this one. Is it balanced? Could be, stay tuned.
We had our usual lunch at Farmer Boys, and the survivors adjourned to Louie's Chicken and Fish for a late dinner.
